Pedicure / multi

Double pedicure chair: shared plumbing, split attention.

Two seats on one supply is efficient until the heater fails on a Saturday. The specification that matters is the redundancy, not the seat count.

Two seats on one supply

A multi seat unit is a throughput decision made in the plumbing. Two clients served from one supply, one heater and one drain is efficient, and every part of that efficiency is a shared point of failure.

The specification question is not how many seats fit along a wall. It is what happens to the second client when the first service point is down, and whether the answer is acceptable on a Saturday.

Redundancy is the specification

A shared heater that fails stops every seat it serves. A shared drain that blocks backs up into the nearest basin. Neither is a rare event in a room that runs water all day, and both are designed around rather than repaired afterwards.

The usual compromise is a shared supply with independent heating, or shared heating with a bypass. Each adds parts and each shortens the outage, which is the trade to make deliberately.

Privacy follows the same logic as the plumbing. Two clients side by side need a screen or a distance, and both are drawn with the run rather than added in the room.

What the room has to give

Two seats need the width of two reclined chairs plus the gap between them, plus a working side for two technicians. That is a different room from the one that holds two chairs in a row along a wall.

They also need two service approaches. A chair that has to be unbolted to reach a filter will be serviced late, and a chair serviced late is the one that fails during a booking.

Spec sheet

Two seats are specified as one hydraulic group and two serviceable positions. The cells that read per project come from the room and the drain route.

Multi seat specification sheet
FieldThis buildWhat the value decides
Seat countTwo or more per unit, per modelThe count drives the heater and drain sizing more than the footprint does
FootprintPer data sheet, per seat, reclinedReclined depth plus the gap between clients plus the technician side
Water supplyOne supply per unit or one per seat, per projectPer seat supply means a fault stops one client, not two
HeaterShared with a bypass, or independent per seatThe bypass is the part that keeps a second seat selling during a failure
DrainShared with capacity for both, or independentShared drains back up into the lowest basin, which is usually seat one
PrivacyScreen, gap or separate rooms, per drawingA screen fixed to the unit needs a structural point, not a bracket in plaster
Service accessA panel per seat, per drawingOne panel for two seats means one seat is always serviced late
PowerPer data sheet, one circuit per unit or per seatTwo massage units on one circuit trip together
UpholsteryPer finish, sealed seam in a wet roomA shared unit is wiped down twice as often as a single chair
Certification routeConfirmed at quotation, per destination marketEach electrical accessory on the unit is declared separately

The sheet is a summary, not a substitute for the drawing. Values that read per project are confirmed against your room before the order is placed.

Where a multi seat unit fits, and where it does not

It fits a dedicated pedicure room in a larger nail studio, a spa with a wet area, and any business that can keep two technicians on the floor at the same time. It also fits a room where the plumbing run is long and one shared supply is the practical answer.

It does not fit a studio that runs one technician most of the week. Two seats under one pair of hands is floor area that earns nothing and a maintenance bill that doubles.

It also does not fit a room where privacy is the product. A client paying for a quiet pedicure does not want to hear the massage unit next door, and no screen fixes that.

How buyers customise a multi seat unit, and what each option changes

Every row below is a decision about how a failure is shared, which is the real subject of a multi seat specification.

Supply arrangement
Changes how many clients lose a seat when one supply is isolated. Per seat supply costs more pipe and buys independence.
Heater redundancy
Changes the parts list and the panel size. A bypass keeps one seat selling during a heater change.
Drain capacity
Changes the pipe size and the floor fall. Undersized shared drainage shows up as a slow basin, then as a back up.
Screen or separation
Changes the joinery and the fixing points. A screen needs to be drawn with the unit, not added after.
Service panels
Changes the wall detail and the maintenance routine. One per seat is the arrangement that gets used.
Circuit split
Changes the electrical drawing. Separate circuits per seat mean one trip does not stop the room.

What to confirm before you approve a multi seat order

6 checks on the multi seat build before the order is approved.

  • The reclined footprint of two seats side by side, measured with the gap and the technician side.
  • The heater arrangement, and what a client experiences during a heater change.
  • The drain capacity test with both seats running, not with one.
  • A service panel per seat, checked for reach with both chairs in place.
  • The electrical split, and which seat goes dark when one circuit trips.
  • The screen fixing point, in the wall or in the unit, and which one carries the load.

Questions that come back before the order

Short answers to the questions that arrive with the first email.

Is one heater enough for two seats?

It is enough for two seats used one after the other. Two seats used at the same time need the recovery rate looked at, and that figure is on the heater data sheet rather than on the chair sheet.

Can the second seat be added later?

Only if the supply, the drain and the circuit were sized for it. A unit bought for one seat and extended later is where most shared-drain problems begin.

Does a screen count as privacy?

It blocks sight, not sound. If privacy is the commercial point of the room, separate rooms do the job and a screen on a shared unit does not.
