Electric facial bed: height range before upholstery.
A facial bed is chosen for the height it works at and the sections it moves. The upholstery and the colour are the last two choices, and the only two that cost nothing to change.
The bed is a working height
A facial bed is bought for the height it can reach and the sections it can move. Everything else, from the upholstery to the frame colour, is a decision that can change later without touching the therapy.
The working height is the number that decides whether a therapist can do six treatments in a day or four. A fixed bed sets one height for every therapist in the room, and the tallest one pays for it.
Sections and what they are for
A backrest that rises independently lets a client sit up for a consultation and lie back for the treatment without leaving the bed. A leg rest that rises independently takes pressure off the lower back during a long facial.
A single motor that tilts the whole top is not the same thing. It moves the client as one piece, which is fine for a quick treatment and tiring for a long one, because the client cannot be positioned without being moved.
Access at the head end
The therapist works from the head of a facial bed, which means the head end needs clear floor and clear light. Beds pushed against a wall lose the side that the therapist actually uses.
The hand control belongs on the side the therapist stands, not on the side the client sees. That sounds trivial until the control is on the wrong side and every adjustment is a walk around the bed.
Spec sheet
Height and travel come from the model data sheet; the room supplies the clearance figures. The sheet keeps the two apart.
| Field | This build | What the value decides |
|---|---|---|
| Height range | Per data sheet, per model | The lower end matters for a seated client, the upper end for the therapist |
| Moving sections | Backrest and leg rest, independent, per model | Independent sections are what make a treatment menu possible |
| Control | Hand control on a lead, or an armrest panel, per model | A lead reaches the therapist's side; a panel is where the client can reach it |
| Surface length | Per data sheet | A tall client on a short surface ends up with cold feet |
| Upholstery | Per finish, wipeable, with a face hole where the model carries one | A face hole changes the head end and the cushion above it |
| Frame and base | Per model, on feet or on a plinth | A plinth keeps dust out and makes the bed hard to move |
| Load rating | Per data sheet | Ask for it in writing, since a bed is loaded at the edges as well as the centre |
| Storage | A drawer under the top, where the model carries one | A drawer adds height and closes the space under the frame |
| Power | Per data sheet, one outlet per bed | The lead has to reach without running under the therapist's feet |
| Certification route | Confirmed at quotation, per destination market | An electric bed is declared as furniture and as an appliance, separately |
The sheet is a summary, not a substitute for the drawing. Values that read per project are confirmed against your room before the order is placed.
Where an electric facial bed fits, and where it does not
It fits a treatment room where the menu includes facials, brows, lashes, waxing or a light massage, and where more than one therapist uses the room. It also fits a room shared between a beautician and a clinician, because the height range covers both working postures.
It does not fit a room used only for deep tissue work. A four section massage table is more stable under pressure and holds a longer body, and a facial bed used for that work will feel soft at the edges.
It also does not fit a room with no outlet near the head end. An extension lead across a treatment floor is a trip hazard and a patient complaint waiting to happen.
How buyers customise a facial bed, and what each option changes
The first three rows change the therapy. The last three change how the room lives with the bed.
- Section layout
- Changes the treatment menu and the price band of the bed. Independent back and leg sections are what allow a reclined facial and a flat treatment on the same bed.
- Height range
- Changes who can work at the bed without bending. It is the single specification that a therapist notices on the first day.
- Face hole and cushion
- Changes the head end and the client's neck position. It is a model choice rather than an add-on.
- Upholstery
- Changes the cleaning routine and the seam spec. A treatment room with oil needs a sealed face, not a stitched one.
- Storage drawer
- Changes the height and the space under the frame. It is useful and it takes away the foot room a therapist sometimes uses.
- Base type
- Changes stability and cleaning. A plinth keeps dust out and makes the bed effectively fixed.
What to confirm before you approve a facial bed sample
6 checks on the electric facial beds build before the order is approved.
- The height at the top surface at both ends of the travel, measured rather than quoted.
- The section travel with a person on the bed, since a motor behaves differently under load.
- The control position with the therapist standing where they actually work.
- The face hole position relative to the head end and the light above it.
- The upholstery seam on a surface that will see oil and water.
- The power outlet position against the lead length, with the bed at full height.
Questions that come back before the order
Short answers to the questions that arrive with the first email.
How many motors does a facial bed need?
Two independent sections is the usual answer for a treatment menu that includes facials and waxing. A third motor adds a head or foot tilt that most rooms never use.
Is a fixed height bed ever the right buy?
For a second bed used by one therapist for one treatment, yes. As the only bed in a room shared by two therapists, it is the specification that gets complained about.
What wears out first?
The actuator and the hand control lead. Both are replaceable, and both are easier to replace when the bed is not boxed in against a wall.
